Envision. Create. Conquer.

Queens-Hotel-29

As we approach the mid-year mark, I feel my mind begin to shift into perspective of self-reflection. I’m overflowing with love, gratitude, motivation, and humility as I prepare to finish the year strong. Flash back: 2 years-ago I was a college graduate and wasn’t sure how my journey would look, but I knew I had the power to create it on my own terms. I reached out to an old employer, to propose that I help rebrand their fashion boutique. I had worked with them in-store as a stylist/sales associate for eight months, so I was familiar with their brand and clientele. That immediately turned into a full-time Public Relations opportunity where I taught myself the ins & outs of building a brand and connecting with your community.

Now, if you are familiar with PR you already know that the #1 rule is: “If you don’t know, get familiar aka fake it til’ ya make it.” I challenged myself to wear many hats and learn the game of PR such as : social media manager, marketing director, moderator and content creator, it simply depended on the day and objective.

Don’t ask how to do it, just make sure it gets done.

Queens-Hotel-31Once I became aware of my value and how I could leverage my skills to help others I saw a need for women in business. I noticed women were creating businesses rapidly, but weren’t aware of how to market themselves or their business. They downplayed their talents and referred to it as “a hobby or lil’ something I do here and there”. I was inspired to show them they can own their purpose and conquer their dreams. They had everything they needed to create the life they deserved and I wanted to motivate them to go get it!

What’s the greatest lesson a woman should learn?

That since day one. She’s already had everything she needs within herself. It’s the world that convinced her she did not.

Queens-Hotel-33I’ve worked with hair salon owners, health/beauty connoisseurs, event planners and more. I say all this to share my testimony. In the beginning of my journey, I made mistakes, took some L’s and didn’t manage my money efficiently, but it was preparation for what lied ahead.

Fast forward to today: I’m working full-time at NaturallyCurly, the largest online haircare platform dedicated specifically to natural and curly hair. I’m creating and sharing compelling stories to empower women to embrace their beauty and walk in their purpose.

Coincidence? Nah. It’s called fate.

By immersing myself into the community and sharing my gifts I was able to grow and leverage my network. I gained experience in the PR/Media industry and learned things that no book could have taught me. I truly feel everything is connected and each level in your life you must take risks and challenge yourself in order to move forward to the next level. With every opportunity, we have two options: step forward into faith or step back into safety.

You are exactly where you’re supposed to be. Walk in your light and live in your purpose. No matter what it takes, you are able and it is possible.

This season I encourage you to start thinking bigger, praying bigger & expecting bigger. God wants to take you where you’ve never been.

Be gentle with yourself and remember to honor the process.

It Gets Greater Later.

Queens-Hotel-37Don’t ever stop believing in your personal transformation. It’s still happening, even on days when you may not realize it or feel like it.

Turn Your Pain Into Power: Share Your Truths

How often do you go to a networking event and it seems like forced interaction with others? You’re asked questions like, what do you do? What brought you here? Then, sip your drink awkwardly wondering what else to say. Now, that I’ve been in Austin for almost 2 years, I don’t only want to exchange business cards, but focus more on cultivating relationships and creating memorable experiences with passionate women who also want to see change in our community.

When I envisioned the “Queens & Conversion” brunch, I knew I wanted to create an intimate experience where women can take the mask off, sit at a table of no more than 15, have authentic conversation with other business-minded women and share empowering stories to encourage one another to keep going.

Over the weekend, I was joined by an amazing group of women including Social Media Queen Alexis Davis, Creative Queen Ashland Viscosi, Hair Queen Brandelyn Heath-Green, PR Queen Jasmine Vallejo, Girl Power Queen Kay Williams, Health Queen Rakima Dolliole, Fashion Queen Shani Michelle and Cooking Queen Sydney Hardwick at Grand Lux for Queens & Conversation.

For most of us it was our first time meeting, but that didn’t stop us from sharing our truths. We shared painful movements in our lives, how they helped mold who we have become, but most importantly how those circumstances didn’t break us, but made us stronger and wiser. We shared the importance of asking for help and knowing that it doesn’t mean that we’re weak or inadequate, but that we deserve to surround ourselves with reliable and worthy people who can pick us up when we fall. Lastly, we shared how we individually find balance wearing so many hats and make time for ourselves through the chaos and remain faithful through it all.

Anyone can speak their mind. It takes more courage and vulnerability to speak your heart.

The next brunch will be held March 26th , if you’re interested in attending please email alexandramarie_a1@yahoo.com for all inquiries.

Serve with a Purpose: The Power of a Dynamic Network

img_3281I recently celebrated my 25th birthday and I’m beyond thankful for all the clarity and confirmation it brought. It’s funny because the older we get, the more we can appreciate the priceless gifts we discover within ourselves each year. Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with some amazing women in Austin and I want to provide a platform for businesswomen, entrepreneurs and innovators to meet, discuss ideas, goals and passions. I was inspired to launch the brunch series, “Queens & Conversation”, to create a dynamic network of passionate women who can build authentic relationships within an intimate setting, while discussing ways we can create and collaborate to serve our community.queensbrunch-2Last Sunday, I hosted “Queens & Conversation” at Geraldine’s and was joined by the dance Queen Lily Shepard, cooking Queen Sydney Hardwick, Marketing Queen Ashton Haywood, Beauty Queen Courtney Darden,  Legal Queen Erin Quander and Camera Queen Cassandra Klepac. We talked about the importance of being open to learn from one another, ways we can balance our daily lives and projects we can collaborate on. Being that most of us are digitally connected, it felt so good to be in the presence of other strong women who serve with a purpose.queensbrunch-18When women support each other, build each other up and spot each other strengths, we show that we are LIMITLESS! I encourage you to keep practicing your craft, sharing your journey, surrounding yourself around those that feed your soul and challenge your perspective. You are worthy of loving, nourishing and authentic relationships that build you up to conquer from within.queensbrunch-13“Queen, you have the power to be a great leader but when you join forces and share your gifts with other great individuals, you will become legendary.”

The next brunch will be held Feb.25th if you’re interested in attending or being a host, email alexandramarie_a1@yahoo.com for all inquiries.
